Events and Places
There is always something going on in Maldon according to the official site of Maldon Town Council. Now I'm not so sure about that - perhaps with a loose definition of 'something' you might just get away with a statement like that.
Nonetheless, there really are some events to see and places to visit.
The Maldon Mud Race sees 250 'athletes' writhe through the mud of the River Blackwater, all in the name of charity.
That same river provides the oysters which have top billing in the Maldon Oyster Festival.
Maldon Carnival takes place on the first Saturday in August and the Christmas season traditionally started with Victorian Evening, a late-night shopping event in the theme of that brutal period of British history. It was scrapped in 2012 and its future, like the fumes from a Victorian factory, is up in the air.
Without a doubt, Promenade Park is the jewel in Maldon's crown. It caters for all stages of the relationship cycle - a great place for a fist date, a nice day trip with the in-laws and somewhere to keep the kids amused.
Hythe Quay, Moot Hall, Thomas Plume Library and a number of churches may also tickle your interest.
